RICHARDSON, Texas –– The Texas-Tyler men's tennis team went 5-0 in American Southwest Conference East Division play to earn the right to host the 2010 ASC Tennis Championships, to be held at Summers Tennis Center in Tyler, Texas, from April 23-25 (Friday-Sunday).

The hosting rights of the ASC championships – which features both the men and women – rotates each year. The men's and women's ASC champion will each earn the conference's automatic bids into their respective NCAA Division III Tennis Championships.

For the third straight year, live statistics will be available for all matches. They can be found on the conference's website, www.ASCsports.org, and the official championships website, linked to through www.uttyler.edu/athletics/.

Head coach Chris Bizot's Texas-Tyler men's squad won their seventh straight East crown and also earned a first-round bye in the six-team, single elimination tournament. Texas-Tyler (11-6), which carried a national ranking most of the season, will wait until Saturday at 4 p.m. to get Friday's 4 p.m. winner between West No. 2 seed Mary Hardin-Baylor (9-5) and East No. 3 seed LeTourneau (20-2).

The other side of the men's bracket will pit East No. 2 seed Mississippi College (11-5) against West No. 3 seed Howard Payne (7-9) at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. That victor will face back-to-back West Division champion McMurry (12-6). Head coach Mark Hathorn's squad went 6-0 in divisional play.

On the women's side, Hardin-Simmons and Texas-Tyler – who have combined for the last nine ASC titles – wrapped up their respective division's top seeds with perfect marks and also received first-round byes. They will each wait for semifinal action on Saturday.

Head coach Shane Williford's 10-time defending West Division champion Cowgirls (10-5) will get underway at 8:30 a.m. against the winner of Friday's 8:30 a.m. quarterfinal between East No. 2 seed Mississippi College (9-7) and West No. 3 seed McMurry (9-7). On Saturday at 11 a.m., Bizot's five-time defending East champion Patriots (14-3), who have been nationally ranked most of the year, will face the victor of Friday's 11 a.m. match between West No. 2 seed Mary Hardin-Baylor (11-5) and East No. 3 seed Texas-Dallas (6-7).

Both the men's and women's semifinal winners will face off for the titles on Sunday. The women will start at 1 p.m. and the men will begin 30 minutes following the conclusion of that match.
