ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University's football program will play host to the second annual Air Raid & 3-3-5 coaching clinic Jan. 20-22 in Abilene at the McM Elegante Suites hotel. Along with the McMurry coaching staff, guest speakers will include Baylor University linebackers coach Larry Hoefer, Texas Tech offensive coordinator Neal Brown and Red Raiders receivers coach Sonny Cumbie.

Registration for the event begins at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 20 at the McM Elegante Suites located at 4250 Ridgemont Drive.

“We're excited to have a defensive coach from one of the top tier teams in the Big XII and offensive coaches that have played and coached in the Air Raid Offense at Texas Tech,” said McMurry offensive coordinator Matt Mumme.

Hoefer, a McMurry University graduate from 1973, has 37 years of defensive coaching experience. He served with McMurry head coach Hal Mumme at West Texas State and UTEP in the early 1980's. Hoefer has been on staff at Baylor since 2003 and was the defensive coordinator in 2007.

Brown served as Texas Tech's offensive coordinator for the first time in 2010 and coached former Abilene High School players Taylor Potts and Lyle Leong. Before his arrival at Tech, Brown was the offensive coordinator at Troy University and led Troy to the No. 3-ranked total offense in 2009. Brown played for Hal Mumme at Kentucky.

Cumbie played quarterback for Mike Leach for five years and was the starter in 2004 leading the Red Raiders to an 8-4 record and a win at the Holiday Bowl over No. 4-ranked California. He spent time as a player in the AFL for the Los Angeles Avengers and was the head coach of the IFL's San Angelo Stampede in the league with the Abilene Ruff Riders in 1999.

The cost for the three-day clinic is $50 per coach and interested parties should contact Matt Mumme at 575-639-3180.
