Guerra finishes senior season with 22nd place finish at regional meet

SEGUIN, Texas – Alaisha Guerra ran a 6k time of 23:38.00 to finish 22nd out of 197 runners at the South/Southeast Region Regional meet Saturday morning in Seguin. McMurry University women finished 21st out of 30 total teams and the men's top finisher, Spenser Patterson finished 109th out of 174 runners.
 
Guerra wraps up a great career for the War Hawks earning all-region honors. She finished the 2011 season the same way as she did in the 2010 season a 22nd place finish and all-region honors. Guerra finished eight places out of the national meet. The NCAA takes the top two teams and the following seven finishers to the national meet.  
 
War Hawks freshman Laura Matteson finished the race with a 109th finish running a time of 26:18.7. Brttney McGuire finished six seconds behind Matteson in 112 place. Alyssa Fields finished her freshman year with a time of 26:43.4 good enough for 116th place overall. Chantel Ruffin rounded out the McMurry runners in 151st place running a time of 28:08.4.
 
Patterson's 8k time of 29:45.4 left him out of the top 100 runners by 22 seconds. Freshman Bert Ruiz, the second McMurry runner to cross the finish line, placed 111th with a time of 29:59.2. Zac Ceraldi finished his regional meet with a time of 30:51.1 and 130th place finish. Naoshi Okamoto rounded out the War Hawks with a 155th place running a time of 32:05.7.
