RICHARDSON, Texas –– McMurry University had a total of 25 student-athletes recognized by the American Southwest Conference on its 2011 Fall All-Academic honor roll. The teams were announced by the ASC office on Thursday (Jan. 19) and include the sports of cross country, football, soccer and volleyball.

The War Hawks had at least one representative for each sport contested in the Fall. McM's football team had the most selections with 12, while the volleyball team had seven honorees. The women's soccer team had three players recognized. Women's cross country, men's cross country and men's soccer had one award each.

"We are very proud of our Fall sports student-athletes who were recognized by the ASC for their academic success," McMurry Director of Athletics Ron Holmes said. "It shows a tremendous amount of discipline and desire to get it done both in the classroom and on the fields of competition. We salute them for their efforts and want their example to inspire even more of our student-athletes to shoot for similar accolades in the future."

To be eligible for ASC All-Academic honors, student-athletes must be classified academically as a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student during the competition season and have been in attendance and completed at least one academic year (two consecutive semesters) at their institution. They must also have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as certified at the conclusion of the academic semester in which the ASC sport championship is held.
