WACO, Texas – McMurry University's men's tennis player Felipe Cruz has been named as the Heartland Conference “Player of the Week” for the period ending March 31, it has been announced by the league office.

Cruz won both of his matches last week versus HC power – and the nation's No. 44-ranked team in NCAA II – St. Mary's University. The War Hawks' team dropped a tough 5-4 decision to the Rattlers on Wednesday.

Playing at No. 2 singles, Cruz had a one set lead on SMU's Zach Nicholson, and was up 5-2 in the second set, when Nicholson was unable to continue and retired from the match.

Teaming up with Dani Perez at No. 2 doubles, Cruz also booked a victory in tandem play. The McM duo ousted the Rattlers' Andrej Klipa and Carlos Olea, 8-5.
