Women's Tennis Snaps Skid with 9-0 Win

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The McMurry women's tennis team scored a dominating victory over Our Lady of the Lake University, 9-0, to close out the regular season on the road. The win improved the War Hawk ladies to 6-13 overall and snapped a recent four-match skid versus top-flight foes.

McM built a 3-0 lead in the team score by sweeping all three doubles matches.  Winning – in order – for McMurry were the teams of Lauren Renner and Brandy Curry, Sydney Gonzalez and Chelsea Miller, and Salitza Abrantes and Jessica Bentley.

In singles competition, the War Hawks were equally dominating. Only the No. 2 singles match went three sets, where Abrantes won the first set (6-4) and lost the second (7-5), before winning the third 10-5 over Leslie Cooper.

Renner defeated OLL's Jessica Perez, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Miller, playing the No. 3 singles slot, was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Lauren Zanchetti, while No. 4 Curry threw a “double bagel” at OLL's Alexia Guarneros, 6-0, 6-0.

Miranda Townsend took care of matters at No. 5 singles – 6-0, 6-3 – by defeating Summer Almenza. At No. 6 singles, Autumn Patterson also pitched a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at Brisa Ramirez.
