CONWAY, Ark. – The McMurry University swimming teams took on a tough slate of competition over the weekend, participating in both the 53rd annual Hendrix Relays and the 48th annual Hendrix Classic on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Women's team highlights included a third place from sophomore Robin Remschel in the 200 yard backstroke, finishing in a time of 2:10.82 minutes.
Kelly McNamee was fifth in the 200 freestyle (2:09.36). Both swimmers – along with teammates
Amber Garrett and
Zandria Rodriguez – were also a part of the War Hawks' 400 medley relay team which finished fourth in a time of 4:26.91.
Garrett and Rodriguez also helped the 400 freestyle relay quartet to a third place (4:04.41).
Kelsey Hill and
Katie Gorka were the other two members of the group.
On the men's side, freshman
Jerick Pena was 11th in the 200 individual medley, swimming a season-best 2:06.89 minutes. Pena also earned an eighth place in the 200 backstroke (2:09.04).
Craig Bell picked up a 10th place in the men's butterfly, touching at 2:13.84 minutes.
