AUSTIN, Texas – The McMurry University women's cross country team – making its first run at the American Southwest Conference championships since 2011 – placed second. In ASC history, it is the program's 11th runner-up placement.
In all, McMurry ended the 6K race with a total of three all-ASC finishers.
Heading the cast is senior
Kirsten DeFrance, who was third in the overall standings. DeFrance came across the line in 23:19.1 minutes (a little more than 20 seconds behind the race winner), earning first team all-conference accolades.
A pair of War Hawks runners were second-team honorees, as well. Senior Kim Fritz was McM's second runner and was 13th overall in a time of 24:54.5 minutes.
Sadie Dolbear was 15th overall. Dolbear was clocked at 25:07.2 minutes.
Shelby McWilliams just missed out on the all-conference parade, finishing 17th at 25:16.5.
Kylie Fonville was 25th (26:18.5) and Katlyn Rivera 35th (27:32.4).
Marissa Becerra rounded out the War Hawks women's team members in 50th (29:41.8).
